Template Overview
A GST invoice is the document a registered business issues for a taxable sale in India — and under GST law it must contain specific details, or your buyer can be denied input tax credit. This template gives you a compliant format that does the tax maths for you. It is built for intra-state sales, where GST splits into CGST and SGST at half the rate each (an 18% item carries 9% + 9%). Enter the quantity, rate, and GST rate for each item, and the sheet calculates the taxable value, both taxes, and the grand total automatically. For inter-state sales you would instead charge a single IGST at the full rate.

FAQ
Is this GST invoice template free?
Yes. It is free to download and edit for personal and business use.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the file to Google Sheets and the formulas carry over; the calculations work the same.
How do I make an inter-state (IGST) invoice?
For a sale to a different state you charge one IGST at the full GST rate instead of splitting into CGST + SGST. Rename a tax column to IGST and use the full rate.
What GST rate should I use?
It depends on the item — common slabs are 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. The template works with any rate you enter.
